Since the inception of free media back in the very first days of our country, politicians quickly learned that they would need to learn on how to use the media to their advantage. When major newspaper companies surfaced in every major city, politicians realized that they would have to place advertisements in all of the major newspapers to be a serious candidate in an election. Newspapers were the first dominant source of political advertisements. After newspapers, radio took over as the dominant source, and finally TV.
